Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga was systematized in the 20th century by K. Pattabhi Jois, who learned this traditional practice from his Guru, Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. This dynamic style of yoga is built around two essential principles: Vinyasa, the seamless coordination of breath with movement, and Tristana, the three points of focus—breath, posture, and gaze—that bring depth and awareness to the practice.
At its core, Ashtanga Yoga is designed to purify and transform the practitioner on three levels: the body, the nervous system, and the mind. These elements work together to create balance, strength, and inner clarity.
The Intermediate Series, known as Nadi Shodhana (meaning “purification of the nervous system”), takes this practice further. It focuses on strengthening and cleansing the nervous system and energy channels, while introducing deeper backbends and more advanced postures. Building upon the foundation of the Primary Series, it enhances flexibility, control, and overall vitality.
Traditional Hatha Yoga
